The rising importance of investments and the growing complexity of financial services has led to greater demand for finance professionals. University of Tampa finance majors learn how to manage money in areas such as investments, corporate finance, international financial management, and financial institutions and markets.
The finance degree program offers instruction in all areas of business through courses in accounting, managerial statistics, computer information systems, economics, marketing and management. This is combined with contemporary studies in managerial finance, investments, financial institutions and international finance.
Finance degree students are prepared for careers in commercial banking, individual and institutional investments,Ìýfinancial services, private industry, and government. ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø's Finance sequence is also good preparation for the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designations.
Students may participate in the Bailey Student Investment Fund. The fund was initiated with a $100,000 donation of capital that is managed by the students taking the Applied Investment Management course (FIN 415). The program also includes the opportunity to become Bloomberg certified.
In addition to the full-time day program, students can earn theÌýBachelor of Science in FinanceÌýpart-time at night through ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø'sÌýContinuing Studies Program.
´¡ÌýMinor in FinanceÌýcan complement any course of study at ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø. Financial management is critical to success, and not only in the corporate environment. Scientists, engineers, civic leaders, non-profit managers, teachers and many others need financial management understanding and skills to make the most of their resources.

On-Campus Associations
Finance students can join ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø's chapter of Delta Sigma Pi, an international business fraternity that sponsors seminars, guest speakers from the business community, and professional development programs. Students may also join the student chapter of The Financial Management Association which provides a variety of programs throughout the year. Qualified students are also invited to join the Beta Gamma Sigma national business honor society for AACSB accredited schools.
