Better Systems. Better Solutions.
In a world dependent on technology, computer systems professionals play a key role in meeting strategic goals. The information systems management concentration deals with managing information as a strategic corporate asset and resource. Students learn the technical knowledge and tools needed to integrate people, hardware, software and data for optimal planning, decision making and problem solving. The curriculum is designed to empower leaders with an understanding of how information systems can be used to achieve a corporation's mission and vision.
MBA students who choose this concentration position themselves at the cutting edge of technology. They gain the tools to manage information systems operation, including revolutionary training in SAP software.
The SAP Advantage.
The German company SAP is the global market leader in ERP (enterprise resource planning) systems. About 90 percent of Fortune 500 and international companies employ SAP's main information systems infrastructure platform to operate their businesses through a unified system. The Sykes College of Business joined the SAP University Alliance in 2008, integrating SAP into the business curriculum. Several professors at ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø incorporate SAP training into their courses as a tool for simulating real business scenarios. Students and faculty also have access to the SAP community, enabling interaction with industry professionals and professors at universities worldwide.
ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø is the only place in Florida — and one of a handful of universities in the nation — offering the SAP TERP10 Academy, a 10-day course that helps prepare students for the challenging SAP certification exam. Students who have completed eight credit hours of classes embedded with SAP are eligible for the TERP10 Academy. By understanding enterprise systems like SAP and their impact on business operations, students are better able to apply these principles to other current software applications and are positioned to adapt to the inevitable changes to come in technology.
Expert Guidance.
The Department of Information and Technology Management is guided by an advisory board comprised of experts in the field of information systems. Members, including employees from companies such as IBM and PricewaterhouseCoopers, assist faculty in developing programs designed to equip graduates with the critical skill sets required by employers.
Accreditation.
The management information systems degree program was recently accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) for its outstanding curriculum. ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø is one of only 33 universities nationwide to have earned this prestigious accreditation.
