°Õ³ó±ðÌýEnvironmental StudiesÌýmajor is a broad, interdisciplinary program designed for students interested in the scientific, social, political, economic and expressive aspects of global environmental issues. Awareness of the intersections between these issues are more apparent now than ever, particularly regarding the threat of climate change and how it affects not just the environment, but our economy, society, politics and daily lives. This program will prepare students for professional opportunities within the various dimensions of global environmental issues, and how these issues are managed, communicated and improved upon.
A bachelor of science, bachelor of arts, minor in environmental studies and minor in sustainability are offered within this program.
°Õ³ó±ðÌýB.S. in Environmental StudiesÌýis ideal for students wishing to specialize in a major concentration. Curriculum for these students will focus on one of four concentrations:
- Communication
- Humanity and Geography
- Natural Sciences
- Public Policy
°Õ³ó±ðÌýB.A. in Environmental StudiesÌýcurriculum covers all major content areas listed above without specialization. AÌýMinor in Environmental StudiesÌýis also offered to complement other degrees, and aÌýMinor in SustainabilityÌýis offered to provide perspective on the long-term viability of environmental, social and economic systems.
ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø's program is unique in the Florida market in that it is the only environmental studies degree program in the state with multiple degree options, multiple concentrations within those degrees and a focus on experiential environmental education through internships and capstone experiences. Interdisciplinary student teams work together through the capstone experience to find solutions to real-world environmental issues faced by University partners from the Tampa Bay community.
